About Violent Cat Lady

Crafting with Passion and Purpose

Proudly based in Bozeman, Montana

Violent Cat Lady was born from a love of knitting, and a desire to make the craft more accessible.

Hi, I’m Jade! I am so glad you are here.

In 2020, I learned to knit on the floor of my college bedroom. What began as a simple hobby quickly consumed my every thought.

Growing up in a family of knitters, sewists, and artists, I’ve always known the power of craft to bring people together and provide a space for creative expression. By 2024, I made the leap to leave my full-time job and dedicate all my focus to my small business. My mission has always been clear: to create a space where both new and experienced knitters feel empowered, accepted, and inspired. Today, we have a small but mighty team of knitting enthusiasts and wool lovers, dedicated to supporting you on your fiber art journey.

The Yarn Shop

Intentionally sourcing high quality yarns.

In response to requests from our community, we expanded our offerings to include fiber in 2025. We love searching for unique yarns—whether it's color, source, texture, or feel. Our hope is that you find the ideal fiber for your project and enjoy working with these yarns as much as we do! All our yarns are thoughtfully sourced and muscling-free. Got a fiber suggestion? We'd love to hear from you—reach out via our contact page!

Wool is naturally breathable, moisture-wicking, and temperature-regulating, meaning garments made from wool can keep you warm in the winter while remaining cool and comfortable in the summer. It absorbs moisture without feeling damp, making it perfect for knitwear that moves with you, no matter the season. Our love for wool has led us to explore other natural plant and animal fibers over the years. In our shop, you'll also find a selection of alpaca, mohair, cotton, linen, and silk yarns.

Why We Love Wool

We believe that wool connects us to the earth and to each other.

At the heart of our shop is a deep appreciation for wool. We carefully source wool from trusted farms and suppliers, ensuring that each skein tells its own unique story. Wool has been a beloved fiber for centuries, and for good reason. As one of the most versatile and sustainable fibers available, wool offers a unique combination of properties that make it ideal for knitting.
